The rise of the internet has created its own egalitarian culture, where anyone can have a go at doing, selling and promoting themselves and what they love to do, regardless of their training. The flip-side of this fair platform however is that the sheer volume of work it encourages makes it more difficult to stand out from the crowd and get your work noticed. Finding and developing your own creative voice is a life-long pursuit so whatever your discipline is, work hard, be dedicated - and a healthy sprinkling of luck to you!

This hand-cut paper sculpture is from a project about the story ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’. This cage like piece is based on my illustrations of the narrator’s shifting perspective of her environment. It is intended to represent some key themes of the text: shadows and shifting shapes that reveal new elements depending on physical and mental perspective, fragility, and the feeling of a decorative but ultimately oppressive environment.
